TATTOO AFTERCARE
You have just received a very
special work of art. At the Tattoo Ranch we operate under the most sterile
conditions we feel we can provide. We use new needles every time, the most up to
date equipment, and the best supplies available. We follow the strictest
procedures and adhere to the highest standards of professional practice. We
cannot, however, be responsible for how you take care of your new tattoo.
Therefore, all tattooing is executed at your own risk.
Your new tattoo will remain
with you forever! However, during the period of time while it is healing it will
be somewhat vulnerable to injury. Here are some suggested steps to follow to
insure the best final result once your tattoo is fully healed.
-
Most important,
USE YOUR COMMON SENSE!!!!
- Remove the
bandage no longer than one hour after your tattoo is completed. Do not
re-bandage your tattoo as it needs air to heal.
- Wash your tattoo gently but thoroughly with mild soap and COLD WATER, rinse,
blot dry, and check for any bleeding with a tissue. If there is any bleeding,
continue to blot for a minute and then repeat this whole process again. Keep
repeating this process until you get to the point that all bleeding has stopped.
-
It will usually take two or
three washings. When all bleeding has been controlled, apply a small amount of
LUBRIDERM HAND LOTION.
-
The first day it is very
important to wash your tattoo about every two hours and again before you go to
bed. Use cold water the first few times, then lukewarm water thereafter.
-
From day two on- until all
scabbing is gone- (usually about 7 to 10 days) - wash your tattoo at least 4
times a day, morning, noon, evening, and bedtime. Feel free to wash your
tattoo as often as you wish. The more often you wash the less scabbing you will
have and the quicker you will heal. Don’t forget to use
LUBRIDERM after each washing. Shower normally, but no wash cloths
until all scabbing is gone as they will disturb scabs, which could effect how
your tattoo heals.
-
DO NOT USE VASELINE OR
PRODUCTS BASED IN VASELINE!!!!!
Products such as these will slow down healing time, increase scabbing, and draw
color out of your tattoo.
-
Your tattoo may itch in a few
days. This is a normal sign of healing. DO NOT PICK OR
SCRATCH YOUR NEW TATTOO!!!!!
-
Avoid abrasive clothing as
this could tear at your scab and damage your tattoo.
-
NO DIRECT SUN OR TANNING
BOOTHS UNTIL ALL SCABBING IS
GONE. A strong sun block is advised
for 30 to 45 days AFTER all scabbing is gone as it takes about this long
for your skin to completely heal.
-
NO SWIMMING, HOT TUBS, OR
SOAKING IN THE BATHTUB
until all scabbing is gone.
